Aleppo fighting is a key event in Syrian uprising, with Syrian events having global significance, Arabic Studies expert Suren Manukyan told a news conference in Yerevan.

Reports say Manaf Tlass, the son of former Syrian Defense Minister, could succeed Bashar al-Assad, according to the expert.

“His name is circulating as a compromise presidential candidate,” said Manukyan.

At the same time the expert noted that with various forces involved in Syria crisis, it will be very difficult to bring Tlass to power.
