Parliament Speaker: Leaving protocols in agenda, we show respect to international community

Parliament Speaker Samvel Nikoyan received on Sunday delegation of the US Congressmen, who have arrived in Armenia from the US on route to Afghanistan. Samvel Nikoyan hailed US disposition and support provided to the Armenian-Turkish relations.
The US delegation is headed by Congressman David Dreier said.

Nikoyan said Armenian President had been decisive to advance and to mend the relations. Parliament Speaker highlighted Armenia’s disposition, backed by the international community and the USA, is clear – diplomatic relations without preconditions and opening of the borders, which is under interests of Armenia and the region.

But soon Turkey imposed preconditions and it turned out that the process would not advance. Parliament’s public relations department reported Mr. Nikoyan informed the issue of ratifying the protocols is still waiting in Armenian Parliament’s agenda.

“We show respect to the international community, which has put forth efforts to resolve those issues,” S. Nikoyan stated. According to him it remains to hope that Turkey will one day acknowledge that peace with neighbors is better than tough dispositions.
