Karen Shakhnazarov's 'Ward Number Six' takes home two Crystal Simorghs

The 28th Fajr International Film Festival was underway in the Iranian capital Tehran January 23-February 4. This year, there were more than 80 films vying for the much-coveted Crystal Simorgh awards in Tehran’s film festival, foreign media reported.

Anton Chekhov’s short story “Ward Number Six” from Russia took home two Crystal Simorghs at the international section of the 28th Fajr International Film. Directed by Karen Shakhnazarov, the movie took the Best Film Award and Vladimir Ilyin was named the Best Actor in this section.

Karen Shakhnazarov took home “best film director” award for his “Ward Number Six” in Moscow “Golden Eagle” annual film award ceremony.
