Revolution expected in Georgian education system
“Georgian education system will undergo revolution in the upcoming several years and all the children must have command of English since the age of 5," Georgia’s President Mikheil Saakashvili said.
According to Interfax, Saakashvili said at a meeting with volunteer teachers arrived from Canada and the US in Batumi to teach English for several years there: “All pupils will speak English in the upcoming four years. This means the second language they will know best is English, the mother tongue Georgian being a priority.”
According to him, pupils should also learn Chinese, Arabic, Turkish, Russian, etc.
