Council of Europe must develop certain criteria to define political prisoner term in Azerbaijan to avoid any kind of manipulations, as well as to accelerate the process of releasing “prisoners of conscience,” “Кавказский Узел” media quotes former political prisoner Eynulla Fatullayev as saying.

The issue of Azerbaijani political prisoners has been discussed on January 26 in PACE winter session.

PACE rapporteur on political prisoners Christoph Strasser told the Assembly he failed to carry out his mission because Azerbaijan didn’t provide him a visa to enter the country.
