President Sargsyan receives Serbian NA Speaker Maja Gojkovic
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received today Speaker of Serbia’s National Assembly Maja Gojkovic, according to the presidential press service.
At the meeting the sides addressed the inter-parliamentary ties that are important for the promotion of Armenian-Serbian interstate relations. The interlocutors stressed the need to develop cooperation of the legislative bodies which they say stems from the spirit of traditional links of the Armenian and Serbian peoples.
Noting that the EU integration process is intensifying in Serbia, and accession to the EU is a priority of the country, M. Gojkovic expressed confidence that sharing experience related to integration processes in Armenia as a member of the Eurasian Economic Union will be mutually beneficial, taking into account also the fact Armenia attaches importance to developing cooperation with the EU.
She expressed hope that the Armenian president will visit Serbia this year which will give another opportunity to discuss the inter-parliamentary relations.
Cooperation of the delegations of the two countries in inter-parliamentary assemblies was discussed at the meeting.
The sides touched upon the Karabakh conflict settlement. Maja Gojkovic said that based on Serbia’s experience, her country is convinced that the problem can be solved only within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group, by peaceful means and through dialog.
Serzh Sargsyan said he gladly accepts the invitation to visit Serbia.
