Islamic State militants likely participate in Karabakh clashes, official Stepanakert claims
The situation along the Line of Contact between Nagorno Karabakh and Artsakh remains tense, spokesperson to Artsakh Republic President Davit Babayan told Panorama.am.
According to him, Azerbaijan continued full-scale violations of the ceasefire during the whole day and in certain directions tried to infiltrate into the Artsakh Republic territory.
“They surely failed to do that and were thrown back, leaving dozens of losses in manpower, 5 tanks destroyed, another drone crashed and numerous injuries, ” Babayan noted.
The official then presented preliminary data that mercenaries are likely involved in the Karabakh fights under Azerbaijani army.
“Data are verified currently although all the evidence come to claim that those mercenaries do participate in Karabakh clashes under Azerbaijani army. Those are the respresentatives of the so-called Grey Wolves and most evidently Islamic State militants.
You’re aware that a few days ago, a subversive group entered Talysh village and brutally killed three elderly people, which is typical to those animals, those mercenaries. Aside from that, a mass escape was recorded from Azerbaijani frontier settlements, people are panicking. The abandoned houses are being destroyed, burnt and robbed by those mercenaries, later to blame it on the Armenians.
There have also been cases of murder and rape. We have information that the situation between Azerbaijani residents and the mercenaries is tense. So, we are dealing with terroristic and sadistic country that doesn’t even care for its people’s interests,” said Babayan.
According to him, at this point it is impossible to say whether there are any Armenian prisoners of war in Azerbaijan.
