Treaty on mutual military assistance between Armenia and Artsakh is being developed by the RA President’s instruction, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said in response to a question by MP Khachatur Kokobelyan.

Minister Nalbandian’s comments came at Cabinet members briefing at the National Assembly.

“Treaty [on mutual military assistance] is being developed with Artsakh and I think all of you should understand that is not to be an easy process, rather requires expert assessment. The process is underway, and when the time comes for concluding the agreement it will be implemented,” Nalbandian stressed.

To remind, following the military operations unleashed by Azerbaijan in early April, Armenian President Sezh Sargsyan convened National Security Council’s session on April 2 highlighting among other things the necessity of cooperation between Armenian and Artsakh Foreign Ministers aimed at concluding a bilateral treaty on mutual military assistance.
President Serzh Sargsyan stated then that Armenia would fully fulfill its responsibility to protect the security of the people of Nagorno Karabakh, having the legal rights for that.
