“Aram Manukyan’s lawyer, Inessa Petrosyan’s appeal against the Republic of Armenia on inhuman and degrading treatment has been sent to the European Court of Human Rights via fax. We thank Anna Maralyan for the maximum support. We hope to hear the ECHR response in the coming days,” member of the Chamber of Advocates of Armenia, Karen Mezhlumyan wrote on his Facebook page .  

Earlier, Inessa Petrosyan, the lawyer of Daredevils of Sasun group member Aram Manukyan, who is currently treated in the hospital for inmates, has called on  the relative state bodies to consider moving his client to another hospital due to inhumane and humiliating conditions in the hospital for inmates. She has addressed the RA Justice Minister Arpine Hovhannisyan, RA Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan, Head of the Penitentiary Service of the RA Ministry of Justice Arthur Osikyan, Head of the Investigative Department of the RA National Security Service Michael Hambardzumyan.

The hospital for inmates responded to the lawyers claims stating that; “Aram Manukyan is provided with proper means of medical aid. The sanitary and hygiene conditions of the ward are satisfactory. Aram Manukyan is also provided with food determined by the law for those ill prisoners and detainees.”
Afterwards, the Ombudsman’s staff reported that Manukyan had been moved to a quarantine ward and would be kept there.

To remind, Aram Manukyan was injured during the shootout in the patrol police regiment on July 27 and transferred to Erebuni Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. The court sufficed the decision to use detention for two months as a pretrial measure against him.  Later Manukyan was moved to the hospital for inmates.

Aram Manukyan is charged under Part 3 of Article 219 of the RA Criminal Code (Occupation of buildings, facilities, means of transportation or communication by an organized group) and Part 3 of the Article 235 (Illegal procurement, transportation or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices by an organized group).

The crimes are punished with imprisonment for the term of 6 to 12 and 3 to 8 years respectively.
