25 years ago, on this day, the 3rd Republic of Armenia was established with the referendum of independence and became a breakthrough in the Armenian history. Which is the major achievement of independence? The first thing immediately crossing the mind is the creation of the Armenian army.
First of all, independence means right, and the freedom established by independence – responsibility. And it’s the RA Armed Forces that carries its part of responsibility for freedom and independence on its shoulders with honour. The Armenian National Army has come the same way as the Republic of Armenia.
Formed during the days of undeclared war, the Armenian National Army came out of the imposed war victoriously, became efficient and mighty during peace defending the country and maintaining stability and security in the region. The creation of the Armenian Armed Forces was the first and greatest achievement of our country, becoming a historical fact and an undeniable reality today. This also means that the army goes a daily path of development and strengthening.
Having an army means to wield reliable and valid power that serves to protect the interests and security of the whole society. Preconditions, such as the reputation of the Armed Forces, the trust and support of the people are necessary for the success of the military sector. The Armenian Armed Forces have succeeded in this regard. And it is no coincidence that it has a leading position in the region. So the main idea of the army is to become a guarantee for independence and security, which is already a fact.
In short, it can be stated that the Armenian army confidently carries out its duties determined by daily activities aimed at its development.
Since 2004, the Armenian Armed Forces have been carrying out peacekeeping missions in hot spots around the world, in Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Mali, as well as during many military exercises.
