Levon Aronian to participate in FIDE Grand Prix Sharjah
The new FIDE Grand Prix Series, which is part of the 2017-2018 world championship cycle, is about to begin. The first of four tournaments will run February 17-28 in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. Armenian GM Levon Aronian is set to participate in the nine-round tournament with 18 other players
As the Chess Federation of Armenia reports, the new Grand Prix series consists of four legs (to be held in Sharjah, Moscow, Geneva and Palma de Mallorca) and will deliver two players for next year’s Candidates’ Tournament.
