Representative of Iranian Supreme Leader issues two warnings to Azerbaijani ambassador
“There are some Azerbaijani officials who make anti-Iranian statements by Israel's instigation,” Representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader in Ardabil Province, Ayatollah Seyed Hassan Ameli made such an announcement, Ghafghaz.ir Iranian media outlet reports.
As the Iranian source informs, during the Friday Prayers, Hassan Ameli turned to the anti-Iranian statement made recently by the Head of the State Committee of Azerbaijan on Religious Affairs noting the following in particular: “It is surprising that groundless statements threatening the territorial integrity of Iran are issued ahead of the Azerbaijani President’s visit to Iran.
During the meeting held recently with the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Iran I told him that Iran is very sensitive regarding two matters: the first one refers to the fact when the history of Iran and the Iranian people are distorted and the second one is when Azerbaijan disrespects our religious values and ideas.”
As the Iranian MEHR news agency reports, on March 5 Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is set to pay a visit to Iran.
