Threat of new terror attacks persists, Armenian expert says
Evidently, the increase in the frequency of terror attacks stems from the current situation in the Middle East, expert on Arabic studies Sargis Grigoryan said at a press conference on Tuesday.
“The Middle East sees new developments and rearrangements, with new structures emerging in the region. The main performer of the terrorist acts is the Islamic State (IS), which has adopted a new strategy,” he noted, adding that the threat of new terror attacks persists during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
Commenting on the recent incident around Qatar, expert on Arabic studies Armen Petrosyan, who also attended the discussion, said that no threats from Qatar citizens visiting Armenia are to be expected, adding that Armenia is not targeted by that country.
In the expert’s words, Armenia can take advantage of the current situation and implement economic projects in the isolated country through Iran.
To note, Armenia has lifted visa requirements for citizens of Qatar.
