MES warns against heatwave in Armenia on 14 Aug.
On August 14, high temperature is predicted in the territory of Armenia, according to a report by the Hydro-Meteorological Service of the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES).
The source informs that in the daytime up to 38...39 degrees above zero and a high risk of fire is predicted in the valleys of Syunik, in Yerevan and Ararat Valley. The daily average air temperature will be 4-5 degrees higher than normal.
No precipitation is expected in the republic on August 14 and 18. On 15 August, mainly in northern regions, on 16-17 in most regions in the evening rain with thunderstorm is predicted.
Southwest wind speed is 3-8 m/s. During thunderstorm the wind speed may exceed up to 17-22 m/s. On 14 August the air temperature will not change considerably, going down by 1-2 degrees on 15-16 August.
In capital city Yerevan, no precipitation is predicted on August 14 and 18. In the evening of 15-16 rain with thunderstorm is predicted. During thunderstorm the wind speed may exceed up to 15-20 m/s.
