DASHNAKSUTIUN HOPES FOR “ATMOSPHERE OF NATIONAL CONCORD”

Hrair Karapetyan, deputy of the National Assembly and a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaksutiun) will not take part in a rally tomorrow, especially that he knows what the first president of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, will speak about. “I have participated in so many rallies in my life and I am bored. Besides, I believe that the phase of demonstrations is over when people were coming to the demonstrations to learn what was going on in the country and when the televisions companies were under lock. I do not think those times have come back,” Karapetyan told a news conference today.

Speaking presidential elections 2008, the Dashnak said “sometimes anti Dashnaksutiun dispositions come out.” As known, Dashnaksutiun will have its own candidate during the elections. Whoever that be, will be known in November.

Karapetyan believes it is unacceptable that all the wings of the power belong to one party. “There should not be a one-party system in Armenia. Didn’t we feel the fruits of one-party regime on our skin for 70 years? I believe the Republican party tries to preserve a multi-party system in Armenia,” Dashnak politician said, also rendering his hope that the elections will pass under “atmosphere of national concord in the country.”
