Cumhuriyet: Turkish flags put back in Baku

Headlined “Azerbaijan’s step-back”, the Turkish Cumhuriyet issued information over the Turkish flags removed from the shehid memorial in Baku last week, stating those have been put back. According to the source, the action is tied with the upcoming visit of the Turkish parliamentarians to Baku.

Turkish-Azerbaijani relations were a top agenda issue in the Azerbaijani parliament yesterday. The Majlis speaker Oktay Esadov said his dignity was hurt as a campaign against the Azerbaijani flag was launched prior to Bursa football match.

One of the deputies, Ikram Israfil, suggested proclaiming September 15, the Day of Baku liberation, as the Day of Amity with Turkey to put an end to the Turkish-Azerbaijani tension.

Another parliamentarian said, he felt too contempted as he saw the attitude of the Turkish to the Azerbaijani flag.
