Lukashenko says Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to be regluated by Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents
Lukashenko said, his country cannot refrain from being interested in frozen conflicts. As the President assured, he has had a number of friendly talks with his Azerbaijani and Armenian both former and current counterparts.
“We can see how painful and significant the issue both for the Armenian and the Azerbaijani parties is. Most essential, I have always stated to the Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents that the conflict should be regulated by two Presidents.
One should not rely on any mediators. Though there is Minsk Group and providing Minsk, as the center for the group’s establishment, can anyhow back the process, we will be pleased to do so,” Lukashenko said.
Speaking on the possible mechanisms for the regulation of the conflict, the President said that "the interests of the people residing in the NKR should be taken into account.”
