In response to Washington condemning democracy infringements in Azerbaijan, Baku is attempting to compel the US to make concessions, taking into consideration its regional interests, Azdalig reported.

According to the source, the Azerbaijani authorities are making remarks over recalling their military forces from Afghanistan. Aware of the significance the issue has for the US, official Baku representative raised the issue over ensuring Azerbaijani military forces’ security in Afghanistan during the bilateral November talks in Washington. Chronically the abovementioned demand coincided with the period Washington slammed the restrictions of human rights and freedoms in Azerbaijan.

In response to the condemnation, Azerbaijani MFA representative urged: “if you are that gravely concerned over the rights and the security of our citizens, ensure this in Afghanistan,” Turan reported, according to the source.
