St Gevorg of Mughni Church: Armenian parliamentarians condemn and voice hope
Armenian parliamentarians condemn the lack of attention of the Georgian party to the Armenian ancient historical monuments. St Gevorg of Mughni Church is the second Armenian church that collapsed in Georgia, the first one being St. Astvatsatsin of Shamkhoretsots to have collapsed in 1989.
The secretary of NA "Orinats Yerkir" faction Artsruni Aghajanyan condemned the lack of attention for the Armenian monuments, resulting in the collapse of the church: “Amiable and Christian states should not act like this: historical, cultural monuments require adequate attention,” he urged.
According to NA ‘Heritage” faction member Armen Martirosyan, as an ally country, Georgia is obliged to preserve the Armenian cultural heritage.
“There are no issues that cannot be solved through talks,” NA Republican party spokesman Eduard Sharmazanov said and expressed conviction that this issue will be solved as well.
