Ruling coalition demands suspending of Armenian delegation activities to PACE

The Parliamentary fractions of Armenian coalition-Republican party, Prosperous Armenia, Rule of Law released a joint statement yesterday related to PACE new elected president Mevlut Cavusoglu’s interview to Azerbaijani “APA” agency.

The statement claims particularly: “We’d like to address Armenian NA authorities’ attention to PACE new elected president Mevlut Cavusoglu’s statements made to Azerbaijani APA agency where PACE president made biased opinions on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The Assembly’s President made statements which put his impartiality under question.

PACE president doesn’t understand conflict’s basic principles and the negotiations held over it. It’s obvious he tries to ignore the fact that the peaceful settlement of the conflict is based on several principles, one of which is the self determination right. It seems the president is indifferent to the issues covering NKR people’s security which is always threatened by Azerbaijani authorities. It’s regretting that the President puts his proficiency related to his positive role on regional conflicts under question.

This very interview has proved another time that holding of the negotiations is a business of the only authorized body, in this case it’s the OSCE MG, and that any irresponsible statement just makes the negotiating process more complex. Taking into account the above mentioned observations, coalition parties of Armenia-Republican Party, Prosperous Armenia and Rule of Law encourage NA President to get comments from PACE President related his statements to APA and if his statements are accurate to discuss the issue of suspending Armenian delegation activities to PACE during Turkish official’s presidency.”
