Yanukovich claims victory in Ukraine's presidential runoff
Ukraine's opposition leader Viktor Yanukovych won a narrow victory in the country's presidential election, electoral officials say. With more than 97% of votes counted, Mr Yanukovych had a 2.6% lead over his rival, PM Yulia Tymoshenko. Mr Yanukovych was ahead with some 48.5% of the vote, with Mrs Tymoshenko at around 45.9%, according to media reports. Observers of OSCE, PACE, NATO and other international organizations vowed Ukraine Presidential Elections transparent and said they meet the International Principles for Democratic Elections.
