Oppositional deputy says West disappointed in Azerbaijan

“I don’t think that Karabakh issue will become a major military conflict this year though many have claimed about it,” head of “Heritage” fraction Stepan Safaryan told at news conference. He doesn’t completely reject that but says it may become issue of top priority if it’s necessary to resume military activities against Iran. “Only in this case I may believe that military activities will resume,” Safaryan said underscoring that different regional items are serious guarantees for the protection of status quo. According to the oppositional deputy Armenia should announce that if Azerbaijan stipulates another war he should be responsible at the international community. Safaryan highly recommends voicing of this point of view in international organizations. “Otherwise those passive definitions are accepted as connivance and dream which may have negative sequences,” NA deputy said. Safaryan also stated that Europe’s expectations of Azerbaijan’s democratization are not real. “Azerbaijan in fact is in a worse condition and its militarization is understood as threat,” he said.
