Azerbaijan resumes war threats over Nagorno-Karabakh

Azerbaijan’s bellicose statements have browned off both Armenia and the international public and none takes these seriously, ARP spokesman, NA deputy Eduard Sharmazanov told Panorama.am, commenting on Azerbaijani Defense Minister Safar Abiyev’s statement at a meeting with French Ambassador Gabriel Keller in Baku: “If occupying Armenia does not free our lands, a large conflict will be inevitable in the South Caucasus.”

"Azerbaijan cannot wait for another 15 years. It is time to use military rhetoric, this threat is becoming more imminent,” Abiyev said.

Sharmazanov recalled it was Abiyev-led army that was defeated by the Armenian army when freeing Aghdam and some other territories. “Armenian party supports peaceful settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh issue. Let me tell Abiyev that there are no Armenian troops in Azerbaijan’s territories and if Azerbaijan continues military rhetoric, it’s the Azerbaijanis who will have to withdraw from Armenia’s historic lands they occupy currently.”
