Petros Shirinoglu – Rejep Tayip Erdogan meeting – “a perfect PR”

Petros Shirinoglu is a best friend of Turkish PM and their meeting was a perfect PR tool, since Erdogan needs improving his image after making scandalous statements condemned by the international society, expert of Turkish studies Artak Shakaryan said.

“It’s believed the meeting was organized by Armenian community leader Shirinoglu. But they tried to demonstrate the world they’re in good relations with Armenian community, and that they don’t have any problems. Shirinoglu has also been charged to tell Erdogan wrong figures of Armenians living in Turkey. To conclude, Erdogan tries to mend the situation perfectly,” expert said.

He stated that the leader of Armenian Turkish community isn’t Petros Shirinoglu, but the patriarch. Hrant Dink used to be indirect leader, but after his murder there is no proper candidate to replace him.

“Erdogan wants himself to put a leader on Armenian community, since he dislikes any other leader like Hrant Dink who was against Ankara,” Shakaryan said.
