Serzh Sargsyan: We are proud of ancient and solid friendly ties of Armenian, Russian peoples
A state dinner was given in the evening of August 19 at the presidential residence on behalf of President Serzh Sargsyan and Rita Sargsyan in the honor of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and First Lady Svetlana Medvedeva, Armenian presidential press service reported. During the dinner, according to the accepted protocol, the presidents of the two countries delivered toast.
“This is a significant visit. The essence of a state visit symbolizes the highest level of relations that can exist between two states. And the given visit is the best opportunity for observing the dynamics of our relations, summarization of some results and for indicating new goals of our allied cooperation.
We are proud of the ancient and solid friendly ties of our two peoples, of multilateral and successful cooperation of the two states. Armenian-Russian cooperation is one of the most important elements of providing the security and stability in the region of Caucasus. The important issues we are going to discuss prove this,” the Armenian President said.
Serzh Sargsyan also highlighted the importance of huge heritage of devotion to merits, trust and historical friendship typical of Armenian-Russian cooperation. “From the beginning of the first moment of the state visit of the Russian President, once more I felt bilateral trust that we can move forward. We can and we will bring the indicated programs to life,” President Sargsyan said.
The Russian President expressed gratitude to President Serzh Sargsyan of Armenia for the warm reception, and for the warm words addressed to the Russian partners. “Our relations have a history of centuries. And yet, most remarkable is that in those hard historical times our peoples traditionally supported each other. There are many such examples,” Dmitry Medvedev said.
Russia’s President Medvedev also underscored that Armenia was one of the first countries to give a helping hand in fighting the wildfires, displaying moral and human great support. “Russian-Armenian relations are really very close both in terms of bilateral cooperation and within the frameworks of the CSTO and CIS. They can even serve example in all the directions. Our duologue is mutually beneficial, including the contacts between provinces and people, which is of great importance and highly appraisable. I want to express gratitude personally to the Armenian authorities, to all the partners for frank striving of strengthening and developing of our allied relations. This state visit is the symbol of those allied relations,” the Russian President said.
The Armenian and Russian Presidents together with their spouses, as well as the members of the official delegations of the two countries, representatives of public, cultural and business circles who have had outstanding contribution to development of Armenian-Russian relations partook in the state dinner.
