Serzh Sargsyan: Azerbaijan’s gross mistake will be followed by Armenian side’s response

The draft resolution to be introduced to UN General Assembly by Azerbaijan will not affect Armenia and Artsakh, no matter it is passed or not, President Serzh Sargsyan said in response to an Artsakh teacher’s question about Azerbaijan’s speculation of the Nagorno Karabakh problem in UN and other international organizations.

The President said: “Yes, we have reliable information that Azerbaijan is set to submit a resolution to UN General Assembly (most likely, on September 19), however, it will not affect Artsakh and Armenia, no matter it is passed or not. Most likely, several dozens of countries will vote for the resolution. First of all they will be country members of the Organization of the Islamic Conference. However, I am convinced that all countries supporting peaceful resolution of the conflict will vote against the resolution, or at least, will abstain from voting since they know that adoption of such resolutions cannot have a positive influence on the talks.”

The President stressed: “I think everybody understands that Azerbaijan once again commits a gross mistake, and we should take advantage of it to secure our goals. We will respond to Azerbaijan, and our measures will lead us to our aim.”
