Turkish delegation in Iraq to last ceasefire with Kurds

A pro-Kurdish delegation consisting of Turkish political figures met Iraq’s president Monday to discuss the cease-fire of the outlawed Kurdistan Worker’s Party, or PKK, which ends Sept. 20, as well as a long-awaited “Kurdish Conference,” Hurriyet Daily news reported.

The politicians, including Ahmet Turk, the former leader of the disbanded Democratic Society Party, or DTP, and Aysel Tugluk, former DTP deputy, who are both co-chairs of the pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Congress, or DTK, met Iraqi President Jalal Talabani in the northern Iraqi city of Sulaymaniyah. Deputies from the pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party, or BDP, also attended the meeting.
The agenda of the conference is expected to include topics such as the unity of the Kurdish people and a roadmap for a solution to the Kurdish issue.
