The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic commented on the statement of the French Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group Bernard Fassier.

“Answering questions of journalists, the French Co-Chair Bernard Fassier had announced during the OSCE MG Co-Chair’s visit to Stepanakert: “…we have crossed not the border but the line of contact.”

Being a very experienced diplomat, Mr. Fassier was not mistaken to say that they have crossed not the border but the line of contact for two reasons. First, the OSCE MG Co-Chairs have crossed the NKR-Azerbaijani Armed Forces line of contact from the NKR territory, occupied by Azerbaijan currently. Second, this is the very sector of the contact line which had been recently gradually turning into a NKR-Azerbaijani Armed Forces resistance, due to the steady and aggressive efforts of the Azerbaijani side.

This is why the OSCE MG Co-Chairs themselves conducted the monitoring, crossing the line of contact, aiming at decreasing the degree of resistance between the Armed Forces of NKR and Azerbaijan,” the statement reads.
