Serzh Sargsyan: Turkey must vis-à-vis with its history

Turkey must vis-à-vis with its own history and must do it for the benefit of its people, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said December 7 in a meeting with Marseille Armenians bringing Germany as an example.

“We are confident, Turkey must repent. This is neither a precondition, nor an ambition for revenge. Turkey must vis-à-vis with its own history. If Turkish government can find that commitment and re-value its approach towards the Armenian Genocide. Our disposition isn’t changed – we’re committed to have normal relations with Turkey as neighbor countries,” said President Sargsyan: “For example, Poland and Germany were such neighbor countries, and German Chancellor Willy Brandt, acknowledging the crime committed by his country, kneed in Warsaw Ghetto. Sooner or later, Turkey, considering itself a European country, will have a leader suiting European norms, will bow in Tsitsernakaberd Memorial. The sooner, the better. But it’s their business, we don’t force anything. They must to it for the Turkish people, as Willy Brandt did it for Germans.”
