Michel Suleiman: NK issue to be settled in line with international norms, peoples’ right of self-determination

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and Lebanese President Michel Suleiman focused on the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh in their talks, President Serzh Sargsyan stated in a news conference.

President described what has been particularly told his Lebanese counterpart: “I’ve noted that in the Islamic countries Azerbaijan is trying to present the conflict under religious background. I think, if the history and the reasons of conflict of Armenian people are studied, it’s impossible to believe in that absurdity. We consider that kind of approach is dangerous, since there are circles unaware of the details, and such anti-Armenian campaign cannot be left without consequences,” declared President Sargsyan.

Serzh Sargsyan, signifying the relations with Lebanon, said that in the conflict resolution impartial attitude of relative states is very important.

“We’ve discussed the issue with President Sargsyan and the issue was really raised in the Islamic conference. Lebanon’s disposition is the following – we’re against any decision on the sidelines of that organization, that will condemn Armenia or Nagorno-Karabakh,” Lebanon’s President Michel Suleiman said.

“That issue should be settled based on international norms and self-determination right of peoples,” said Lebanese President.
