E. Sharmazanov: Azerbaijan’s oil not valuable than Armenian’s blood
Armenian Parliamentary delegation, headed to Lithuania by NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov, had a meeting on March 8 with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Lithuania Evaldas Ignatavičius in Vilnius, NA public relations department reported.
The parties highlighted the further rapprochement of the relations between the two countries, discussed issues pertaining to the Armenia-Lithuania cooperation.
Touching upon the parliamentary elections being held in Armenia on May 6, the Armenian side underlined the readiness of the authorities of the country to organize and carry out the electoral processes in compliance with democratic standards.
The NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov emphasized the role of Lithuania as an experienced state of the establishment of democratic value systems, noting that the latter could assist Armenia on the way to European integration in increasing the efficiency of the efforts taken in making reforms.
The Deputy Foreign Minister of Lithuania has noted that in 2013 the EU Eastern Partnership Summit will take place in Vilnius, in the same year Lithuania is going to assume the presidency of the European Union. He confirmed the willingness of the Lithuanian side to support the process of the reforms being implemented in Armenia.
In relation to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict Evaldas Ignatavičius again confirmed the official position of Lithuania based on 3 well-known principles over the conflict settlement. The Armenian side has stressed that the international recognition of Artsakh has no alternative. “In Europe they’ve understood that Azerbaijan’s oil could not be more valuable than the blood Armenians have shed for independence,” Mr. Sharmazanov said.
