NATO official: Armenia’s membership in CSTO and intention to join CU do not hinder partnership with NATO
Armenia’s membership in CSTO and its intention to join the Customs Union do not hinder its partnership with NATO, Despina Afentouli from NATO Public Diplomacy Division’s Engagements Section said at a press conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Armenia-NATO partnership.
Mrs Afentouli noted that Armenia’s partnership with NATO is “constructive, mutually advantageous and favorable.”
“These relations are based on sincere and direct dialogue and cooperation. We regard Armenia’s foreign policy priorities with deep respect. In this context, we believe that Armenia-NATO cooperation is at a high level,” the NATO official said.
She added that Armenian Armed Forces are participating in NATO peacekeeping operations. Besides, Armenia and NATO cooperate on issues of regional security, human rights, fighting terrorism and corruption.
