Yerevan condemns use of force against civil aircrafts
We are shocked by the tragedy, the passenger plane crash that claimed the lives of 298 people, Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesman Tigran Balayan has said.
“We express condolences to the relatives of innocent victims, to all those countries whose citizens lost their lives as a result of the tragedy. The Armenian President on the behalf of the Armenian people has already sent condolence letters to the leaders of Malaysia and the Netherlands,” Mr Balayan said in response to a question of NEWS.am about the Ministry’s reaction to yesterday’s plane crash in the southeast of Ukraine.
When asked to comment on reports that the plane was shot down by a missile, the spokesman replied, “Only a comprehensive investigation of the accident can shed light on the causes of the plane crash. Armenia has always condemned and continues to consider the use of force and the threat of force against civil aircrafts absolutely unacceptable.”
Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 crashed in Ukraine, on the border with Russia, with 298 people onboard on July 17. Ukraine's interior ministry says the plane was shot down by a missile.
