Navasardyan: Armenia prepared to sign EaEU accession treaty in its current form
“Sanctions against Russia continue. With the other states seeking to demonstrate independence and separate from Russia, Armenia is moving towards signing a treaty on joining the Eurasian Economic Union (EaEU) unconditionally,” former chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the Armenian National Assembly, international expert Hovhannes Igityan said at a roundtable discussion on Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union organized by Yerevan Press Club.
According to him, the statement of the Kazakh President about the country’s possible withdrawal from the Eurasian Economic Union is also related to the sanctions against Russia.
Mr Igityan stressed that the Kazakh leader thinks that the sanctions can have a direct or indirect impact on his country.
Yerevan Press Club head Boris Navasardyan said, for his part, that if Armenia does not join the EaEU on October 9-10, it will not be the fault of Armenia. According to Navasardyan, Armenia is prepared to sign the treaty on accession to the EaEU in its current form.
