Expert: Armenia’s EaEU accession is due to security factors
Armenia’s joining the Eurasian Economic Union (EaEU) is due to security factors, political scientist Sergey Minasyan told a press conference on Wednesday.
“If Russia is willing to assume the material, political and economic costs, Armenia may join the organization,” said the expert, adding that if Armenia does not enter the EaEU, this will cause problems in the country’s relations with Russia.
The fact that Armenia has no common customs border with the Eurasian Union creates serious problems concerning the economic expedience of the accession, but on the other hand, the military and political aspects are more important in this issue, Minasyan stressed.
