Karabakh takes necessary steps to recover bodies of helicopter crew members - Minister
Nagorno-Karabakh Foreign Minister Karen Mirzoyan on Friday met with participants of the Voice of Artsakh Youth project organized by the European Integration and Institute for Public Diplomacy of Artsakh NGOs, with the assistance of the NKR Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs.
In his welcoming speech, Karen Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of such meetings in terms of increasing the interest of the youth in the foreign policy.
Karen Mirzoyan presented the priorities of the NKR foreign policy and the steps taken towards their implementation.
Speaking about the process of international recognition of NKR, Mr Mirzoyan noted that its expansion was, first of all, a result of the achievements by the people and authorities of Artsakh in the state-building process.
At the participants' request, the NKR Foreign Minister touched upon the downing of the NKR Air Forces’ helicopter by Azerbaijan, noting that the NKR authorities were taking the necessary steps towards the recovery of the remains of the helicopter crew and the prevention of further provocations, the press service of the NKR Foreign Ministry reported.
A MI-24 helicopter of the NKR Air Force was shot down on November 12 in the airspace in the eastern direction of the Karabakh-Azerbaijani border due to a ceasefire violation by the Azerbaijani armed forces. The area where the helicopter was shot down was at a very short distance from the Line of Contact. So far, the Armenian side has been unable to approach the downed helicopter because of heavy Azerbaijani fire.
