Latvian FM: It is necessary to create roadmap of Armenia-EU cooperation
The Eastern Partnership summit that will take place in Riga in May 2015, in the period of the Latvian presidency of the EU, may become an important stage for the cooperation between Armenia and the EU, visiting Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs said at a joint press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian.
“The aim of my visit is to discuss the priorities with my Armenian colleagues. I am interested to hear Armenia’s opinion on the continuation of cooperation between Armenia and the EU,” he said.
“In the case of Armenia, it is necessary to choose a format of cooperation with the EU taking into account the country’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union,” said the Minister, adding that it is necessary to create a roadmap, develop policy and steps in order to reach a new agreement.
“We expect to continue the dialogue within the Armenia-EU format,” Mr Rinkēvičs stressed.
