Seyran Ohanyan: We do everything possible to prevent large-scale hostilities
Despite the ceasefire agreement signed in 1994, Azerbaijan has repeatedly violated it, trying to achieve success in the negotiations, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan told reporters on Tuesday.
By increasing tension, Azerbaijan pursues both domestic and foreign political goals, Seyran Ohanyan said. “The foreign political goal is to influence the negotiation process, and in that respect, the tension repeatedly reflects that practice,” he said.
We do everything possible to prevent large-scale hostilities, he stressed.
Armenia believes that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be resolved within the OSCE Minsk Group framework and Azerbaijan’s destructive policy is doomed to failure, he said.
Commenting on the case of Russian soldier Valery Permyakov who is charged with murdering the Avetisyan family in Gyumri, Ohanyan said that the Gyumri tragedy cannot affect Armenian-Russian relations as these relations are on a high level.
