Police raided a house in Madrid, arresting two suspects, in a national operation against the 'Georgian Mafia', Friday. In the house the police recovered a Beretta handgun as well as a stash of jewelry which was seized for investigation, according to Ruptly.tv.
The arrested men were part of a larger operation in Madrid and Valencia, involving over 200 police officers, border officials, researchers and special agents. In total at least 32 suspects were detained in the operations. The raids were carried out by Spanish authorities in an attempt to dismantle a band of mainly Georgian nationals operating a criminal network in Spain. Police have frozen the suspects' bank accounts as well as confiscating any vehicles and property belonging to the group.
The Georgian Mafia is suspected of being involved in a series of burglaries, drug trafficking operations, money laundering operations and the trading of illegal firearms.
