Ecumenical service commemorating Armenian Genocide Centenary to be held at Westminster Abbey
As part of his official visit to London, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan met with British Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport John Whittingdale, Armenian Foreign Ministry said.
E. Nalbandyan highly appreciated Mr Whittingdale’s activities as head of the British-Armenian parliamentary friendship group in the House of Lords. The Armenian-British parliamentary ties were actively developing during that period, Nalbandyan said.
The Armenian foreign minister thanked John Whittingdale for attending the Armenian Genocide Centenary commemorations held in Yerevan on April 24.
E. Nalbandyan then visited the UK Parliament in London where he met with members of the House of Lords Caroline Cox and Henry Harrison. Issues related to Armenian-British parliamentary cooperation were discussed at the meeting.
The foreign minister also met with members of the Commission on Coordination of the Events on the 100th Anniversary of Armenian Genocide. They presented the work done in the UK and the scheduled initiatives.
At the meeting the interlocutors discussed preparations for the ecumenical service to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The ceremony will be held at Westminster Abbey in October.
