Association of Social Enterprises of Armenia formed in framework of “Support to Democratic Governance in Armenia” project
After working for about a year, NGOs from five regions of Armenia initiated establishment of Association of Social Enterprises of Armenia, aiming to unite NGOs and SMEs that wish to work or are already working in the field of social entrepreneurship, by providing advice and support, the press service of the British Council .
From 25 to 27 September Uday Thakkar, expert from the United Kingdom, conducted series of training sessions for representatives of seven founding NGOs of the Association of Social Enterprises of Armenia, introducing the British practices of Association management to them.
After the training, the official presentation of the Association of Social Enterprises of Armenia to the project stakeholders took place. Hoa-Binh Adjemian, head of Cooperation Section of EU Delegation to Armenia, stated that the Association has a crucial role for the development of social entrepreneurship in Armenia.
From 12 to 16 October British Council and Association of Social Enterprises of Armenia are conducting a series of regional meetings. Representatives of “Support to Democratic Governance in Armenia” project and Mirjana Mladic, representative of Slovenian Forum on Social Entrepreneurship (who arrived to Armenia specially for these visits) will meet with representatives of NGOs from Vayots Dzor, Syunik, Tavush, Lori and Gegharkunik regions. The aim of the meetings is to introduce the principles of social entrepreneurship, as well as to inform about the formation of Association of Social Enterprises social enterprises and its goals.
“Support to Democratic Governance in Armenia” project is implemented by the British Council in cooperation with Civic Development and Partnership Foundation, Grant Thornton and Thomson Foundation. The project is funded by the European Union. The project is funded by the European Union. The budget of the project is 949,670 EUR.
The overall objective of the project is to foster the process of bringing Armenia closer to EU and strengthening democracy and good governance through support to democratic institutions, civil society and increasing awareness of the Armenian population on the EU-Armenia relations.
