An Azerbaijani has been killed in Iraq. He was a member of an Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist organization, reports the Azerbaijani information agency APA with a reference to the members of that terrorist organization.

As the agency reports, in the struggle between the terrorists of ISIL and the government forces in the Iraqi city Samarra a citizen of Sumgait was killed.

It is also noted that the real name of the killed Azerbaijani whose nickname was “Abu Abdulla” was Emin. The terrorists of ISIL have disseminated the photo of the murdered Azerbaijani, APA reports.

The agency also reports that in Syria the terrorists have spread information about the seizure of one more car belonging to the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR).

“The armed forces of ISIL have disseminated the photo of a car which according to them belongs to the company,” APA reports. The agency notes that a couple of months before the terrorists in Syria had disseminated a photo of a gasoline tanker with the logo of SOCAR and had stated that they had seized it.

It must be noted that as the Iranian portal “afqaz.ir” reported, the members of ISIL had earlier turned to the population of Azerbaijan and Turkey through social networks with a request to join them.

Besides, the Iranian News Agency (IRNA) reported that the radical Sunni group of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) is recruiting volunteers in Azerbaijan for taking part in combat activities in Syria and Iraq. According to IRNA the restraints on political and religious activities in Azerbaijan are one of the main reasons why ISIL considers this country a fertile soil for the recruitment of jihadists. On the world map published by ISIL Azerbaijan has to be a part of the caliphate proclaimed by this organization.

The citizens of Azerbaijan are fighting among various terrorist groupings in Syria, Afghanistan and Pakistan. According to the data of Azerbaijani information agency Vesti.az, the total number of the Azerbaijani terrorists in these countries is 300. Meanwhile, according to the information provided by the Azerbaijani mass media only in Syria about 200 Azerbaijani terrorists died within the last three years. Mass media has also many times informed about the liquidation of the commanders among the Azerbaijani terrorists.
