Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic in response to the post of the U.S. co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick called on Azerbaijan in its Twitter microblog to accept the proposal of Armenia, Nagorno Karabakh and the OSCE on strengthening the ceasefire regime.

In particular, the NKR MFA address reads: "The best way for Azerbaijan to respect ceasefire is to accept proposal of the NKR, Armenia and OSCE Minsk Group."

In addition, the U.S. co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick wrote in his Twitter microblog, that he is alarmed with the deteriorating situation on the contact line between Azerbaijani and Armenian troops.

"We are extremely concerned about the escalation of tension on the front line, which we saw latly," wrote Warlick.

On May 12, 2014 in connection with the 20th anniversary of the ceasefire agreement the NKR MFA issued a statement in which he noted in particular that, in 2001, the leadership of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic by the OSCE Minsk Group mediation has transferred to the Azerbaijani side a package of confidence building measures, including the cooperation of the conflicting parties in all areas, including the military security sphere. Among those measures was suggested that the leaderships of the two parties confirmed their commitment to the preservation of the current ceasefire and resolved the conflict by peaceful means under the auspices of the OSCE, as well as establishment of direct lines of communication between parties and their operative headquarters.

Moreover, in 2012, the Nagorno Karabakh Republic as a first step proposed to withdraw snipers from the contact line during religious holidays (such as Easter and Novruz) and to refrain from any provocative actions. Unfortunately, none of the proposals made by the Nagorno Karabakh Republic was accepted by the Azerbaijani side, despite the support of the intermediaries and the calls of the international community.
