China’s Ministry of Defense delegation will visit the United States to hold negotiations with US officials in Pentagon on February 5, a Pentagon press release said, according to Sputnik News.

“US and Chinese defense officials will meet at the Pentagon February 5 for the Defense Policy Coordination Talks,” Thursday press release said.

US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for East Asia David Helvey will host the negotiations with deputy director of the Chinese ministry of national defense foreign affairs office Li Ji. The Chinese delegation will also include representatives of China’s Ministry of National Defense and other military bodies, while US side will be presented by the Joint Staff, US Pacific Command, the State Department, and the National Security Council personnel.

“The meeting is an important component of the broader program of engagements between the two nations' militaries, which seeks to foster sustained and substantive dialogue, deepen practical cooperation in areas of mutual interest, and focus on enhancing risk reduction,” US Department of Defense said.

On Wednesday, US Deputy Secretary of Defense Robert Work expressed concerns over rapid improvements of China’s military technologies in the areas of nuclear weapons, anti-ship and anti-aircraft missiles, long-range strike missiles, as well as counterspace, cyber, electronic warfare, and special operations capabilities.
