Zaman: Who suffers from normalization of our ties with Armenia?

The government insisting on treating old problems through new view points is still devoted to its older visions and uses older stereotypes to those issues related to Armenians, writes Turkish Zaman describing Erdogan chaired Government.

Parallels are held between Turkish PM’s previous and fresh statements. Previous year Erdogan made the following statement:
“For year people belonging to different ethnic groups have been expelled from Turkey. Did we profit from them? Surely, we didn’t. In fact it was a consequence adopted from fascism. But feeling commonsense we acknowledged our shortcomings.”
Zaman, referring to Erdogan’s previous view pints, underscored his fresh ideas of expelling those Armenian who have illegal status in their country. Note that Zaman mentions about 5-10 thousand Armenians while Erdogan declared about 100 thousand of them.
“Armenians who have resided and those who have immigrated are a certain type of a bridge between the two societies. Defending them, what could we lose? Who suffers from the normalization of our ties with Armenia? Signing of Zurich protocols are indeed of great importance. Mejlis should have them ratified just after the signing. But that was left undone,” Turkish paper writes concluding: “Turkish authorities wishing to take old and dusted problems from the shelves have taken them out, undusted them and put them into the shelves again.”
