School bus crash kills three in Italy
A bus carrying French students on a school trip to Florence has crashed through a safety barrier and overturned, killing one student and two adults, foreign media reported.
The vehicle was travelling on a motorway in Tuscany when it ploughed through a guard rail and landed down an embankment. The crash happened near the town of Massa, about 60 miles northwest of Florence. Italian police confirmed the deaths but said the cause of the accident was not yet known.
More than 20 people are being treated in hospital and the remaining passengers are being cared for by civil protection officers working with interpreters and psychologists.
None of the wounded had life-threatening injuries. In total 52 students, five teachers and two drivers were on board the bus, which was travelling from the Dordogne region in France.
