Archeological discoveries made in Van
“Ermenihaber” news website reports buildings of common use of Armenian and Moslem people going back to 1900th are discovered in the aftermath of archeological excavations in the Castle of Van, Turkey.
The head of the excavation group Shahabettin Ozturk said the excavations are of great significance for the region. “Since 1915 these lands went under soil. We have excavation for 40 days.”
It’s supposed the city consisted of 13 districts. A part of 3000 local residents were Armenians and another part was Muslims.
Ozturk underscored the particularity of the place saying: “The church found not far from Chelebi mosque points that liberalism ruled those places once.”
