Paris Saint-Germain FC have signed Brazilian international defender Alex from Chelsea FC for a fee believed to be in the region of €5m, according to UEFA.com.

The 29-year-old has penned a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Ligue 1 leaders and becomes Carlo Ancelotti's second signing during the January transfer window after compatriot Maxwell joined from FC Barcelona.

"PSG were my first choice," said the former Santos FC centre-back. "I know the importance of the club and so really wanted to come here. I spent two years under Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea and I am delighted to join up with him again here in Paris. I have won the title at every club I have played for and it's the best feeling. I intend to do the same here but I also want to play in the Champions League with PSG."
