At least 20 people, including 12 policemen, were seriously injured in a powerful blast in a police building in northern Tajikistan on Friday, the country's Interior Ministry told Russian media.

According to preliminary information, there are dead people but the number was not immediately available, Chief of the Tajik Interior Ministry's Staff Takhir Normatov told Itar-Tass.

A spokesman of the Interior Ministry said the blast was caused by a car bomb.
