Russian Federation does not support unilateral sanctions against Iran, Russian news agency RIA Novosti quotes FM Sergey Lavrov as saying.

“We are against any imposing actions bypassing UN Security Council regardless of whether it concerns Iran, Cuba or any other UN member sovereign state,” Lavrov is cited as saying during a joint news conference with Iran’s FM Ali Akbar Salehi.

“The unilateral sanctions, particularly when the international community shares a general disposition in the form of UN Security Council resolutions, may have a “spoiler” result which doesn’t contribute to the advancement of coordinated dispositions,” said Lavrov.
